Early Book Cover Idea

This was an idea for the cover of my NINE OLD MEN book, designed by Matthieu Saghezchi. For various reasons it didn't make the cut. It would make for a nice poster though.

  1. This would've been a great book cover but the one you have now is even more spectacular!!! Thank you sooo much for taking the time and talking to me at CTN last year even though it was short and signing my book. I hold it up there with The Illusioon of Life. I can't wait for Mushka to come out and hopefully more book ideas that you have!!!

  2. I think your drawing of the guys was the right choice.
I just got the new Bambi book, by the way, and it's beautiful! I recognized some stuff you'd previously posted here, and it was different enough from Frank & Ollie's book to be worthwhile

    1. The author is Pierre Lambert. It's in French so it might be hard/expensive to get it outside of EU

    2. (not that there's a lot of text anyway)

  3. I like this cover! But I would prefer the portraits of the nine old men, too.
It's because it shows that this men were more than just their works of art.
Although their artworks were expressions of parts of their personalities,too... :-)

  5. I seem to recall that some of these images made it onto the title pages...

  6. I love it! A wonderful selection of art, and a great tribute to the NOM's skills of character development and pure draftsmanship. Especially nice in this CGI era; although highlighting the actual men on the published cover was a good choice.

  7. Andreas, may I have a word with you offline? In the early 80s I worked in Portland briefly with Stan Green, who had just retired from Disney. I want to do a blog post about him but can't find a single photo of him.

  8. I don´t agree. The book is a golden book. But the cover... no. It is to gloomy. Too little contrast. You could have taken the photo from which you traced instead. Or why not one of the examples above. But what is inside the covers i great. Best.
